What's involved?

The first unit looks at what COSHH is, why it is important, COSHH case studies, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002 as well as the employers and employees’ responsibilities under COSHH.
In this unit we look at what a hazardous substance is, the different forms a hazardous substance may take, how they may enter the body, Dermatitis, Asthma and what is meant by acute and chronic effects.
In this unit we look at hazard pictograms, what information hazard labels contain, data safety sheets and how to carry out a COSHH assessment.
In this unit we look at what is meant by eliminating, substituting, reducing and containing a substance and when this could be used, how control equipment, administrative controls can be used to reduce the risk, the importance of workplace exposure limits, health surveillance and planning for emergencies.
