In this introductory unit we look at having a better understanding of what ‘poor’ mental health is as well as the wider effects. We also look at depression, anxiety, and stress, as well as how these may present generally, as well as in the workplace.
In this unit we look at common types of mental ill health as well as their signs and symptoms. This includes looking at Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Panic Disorder, Phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Eating Disorders, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia.
This unit looks at what legislation is relevant to mental health at work, the effects of mental ill health in the workplace, the steps to mental health advocacy and the benefits of mental health advocacy in an organisation.
This unit looks at the importance of communication, how to have conversations about mental health, the importance of actively listening and what to do if they don’t want to talk about their mental health.
This unit looks at how mental health advocacy can be applied across the organisation at every stage of the employee lifecycle.
In this final unit we focus on the ways in which you can look after your own mental health. The unit contains activities and tasks for you to try.

It is estimated that around 1 in 4 people experience mental health issues each year. Given that mental health concerns affect so many people, it’s vital that the workplace knows what they can do to help those employees with poor mental health as well as promote positive mental health in the workplace.
