What's involved?

In this unit we look at what ‘poor’ mental health is, the wider effects of poor mental health and the key legislation for mental health at work. We also look at what depression, anxiety and stress are as well as being able to recognise their symptoms in the workplace.
In this unit we look at common types of mental ill health as well as their signs and symptoms. This includes looking at Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Panic Disorder, Phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Eating disorders, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia.
This unit looks at how we can support others within the workplace. This includes looking at the skills required to talk about mental health, signposting and what to do if they don’t want to talk about how they’re doing.
In the final unit we focus on the way in which you can look after your own mental health. The unit contains activities and tasks for you to try.

Around 1 in 4 people in the UK experience poor mental health each year – that’s a quarter of the population.  Therefore, it’s important that everyone has a basic understanding of what mental health is, the signs and symptoms of poor mental health and how they can help themselves or others.
