The first unit looks at common definitions surrounding safeguarding vulnerable adults, consent, the key legislation, why safeguarding is important, the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead, the 6 principles of safeguarding and who is responsible for safeguarding.
In this unit we look at physical abuse, emotional (psychological) abuse, sexual abuse and neglect.
In this unit we look at bullying, trafficking and modern slavery, sexual exploitation, criminal exploitation, domestic abuse, radicalisation, honour-based violence, female genital mutilation, financial abuse and organisational abuse.
In this unit we look at the various roles involved in the safeguarding system and their responsibilities, the key methods of preventing safeguarding issues, safer recruitment, whistleblowing and some Serious Case Reviews (SCRs).
In this unit we look what to do if you see or hear a safeguarding issue (disclosures), the steps to reporting a safeguarding issue and how to document a safeguarding concern.
In this unit we look what happens after a safeguarding referral is made, the importance of early intervention, protection plans, and case conferences. We also explore potential concerns, on-going support and helpful resources.
