The first unit looks at common definitions surrounding safeguarding children, the key legislation, why safeguarding is important, the 6 principles of safeguarding and who is responsible for safeguarding.
In this unit we look at physical abuse, emotional (psychological) abuse, sexual abuse and neglect.
In this unit we look at bullying and cyberbullying, trafficking and modern slavery, child sexual exploitation, criminal exploitation, domestic abuse, radicalisation, honour-based violence, and female genital mutilation.
In this unit we look at identifying risk and protective factors for child abuse, the short and long-term effects of child abuse, real life case studies and understanding what touch-points are.
In this unit we look at your role and responsibilities in the safeguarding process, what to do if you see or hear a safeguarding issue, how to document a safeguarding concern, the steps to reporting a safeguarding issue, Early Help Assessments, what ‘whistleblowing’ is and what support is available for you and the child.
Why should I study safeguarding children?
If you work with under 18s, you have a responsibility to safeguard them. This Safeguarding Children Level 2 looks at what this responsibility involves and how you could help keep them safe.
This Advanced Safeguarding Children course covers the many different types of child abuse. In particular it focuses on their signs and symptoms and what you can do if you have any concerns. The course explains what you should do if you see or hear a safeguarding issue, how to document it and how it can be reported. This online safeguarding course also looks at protective and risk factors for children as well as providing sources of support for you and the child.
