Staff Training Plans: Common Questions
What staff training is mandatory for UK employees?
There is no single training list that applies to every UK workplace. Employers should assess the risks, roles and legal duties relevant to their organisation. Common requirements can include health and safety, fire safety, manual handling, safeguarding or data protection, depending on the work. MoreCPD helps you assign and record appropriate training, but the platform does not replace your organisation’s legal or risk assessment.
How often should employee training be renewed?
Renewal frequency depends on the subject, applicable guidance, workplace risk and your organisation’s policy; there is no universal renewal period for every course. MoreCPD records certificate and renewal dates, provides expiry alerts and sends email renewal reminders on team plans so managers can schedule refresher training at the right time.
What is an employee training LMS?
An employee training LMS is an online system for assigning learning, giving staff access to courses and recording progress, completions and certificates. MoreCPD team plans include a hosted LMS with learner accounts and a manager dashboard, so you do not need to source or install a separate platform.
What happens after we choose a plan?
We do the onboarding for you. Send us your logo, staff list and training requirements, and we will configure your LMS, add your learners and prepare their training. 90% of teams are onboarded within 24 hours.
Can this replace spreadsheets for tracking staff certificates?
Yes. Instead of maintaining separate spreadsheets, MoreCPD gives managers a live view of training progress, certificates, upcoming renewals and overdue training from one dashboard.
What happens if an employee's certificate is about to expire?
We send automatic email renewal reminders and expiry alerts ahead of time, so certificates don't lapse without anyone noticing. Managers can also see upcoming renewals at a glance from the reporting dashboard, rather than finding out after the fact.
Can MoreCPD provide training reports for an audit or inspection?
Team plans from Starter upwards give managers an audit trail and exportable reports for completed MoreCPD training. This makes evidence easier to retrieve for an inspection, audit or client request, but using the platform does not by itself guarantee legal or regulatory compliance.
How much does staff training cost per employee?
Plans start at £18 + VAT/month for one learner. Team plans start at £45 + VAT/month for up to 10 learners. Larger teams move into Growth (£95/month, 11–30 learners) and Business (£195/month, 31–75 learners) tiers, with custom Enterprise pricing for 76+ learners.
Can I add more staff or courses later?
Yes. You can add staff or additional courses at any time. In some cases this may involve an additional cost, but we're flexible and will always talk you through the options first.
Can we add Mental Health First Aid or IOSH training?
Yes. Mental Health First Aid and IOSH training can be added alongside your Staff Training Subscription. Tell us what your team needs and we’ll discuss the options.
Is there a contract or minimum commitment?
All plans require a 12-month commitment. You can pay monthly or annually. Annual billing is paid upfront and gives you 12 months for the equivalent of 10 monthly payments. Prices exclude VAT.
We already have a Learning Management System — can we still use MoreCPD?
Yes. We can supply SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, or xAPI (Tin Can) packages that drop directly into your existing LMS with full tracking, so you don't need to switch platforms.
How do we oversee training across the whole team, not just track certificates?
Every plan from Starter upwards includes a manager reporting dashboard. From there you can see progress and completions across your whole team, add or remove staff and courses, and handle all the admin in one place — no spreadsheets, and no waiting on IT.
What is CPD accreditation and why does it matter?
CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certification means a course has been independently reviewed against CPD standards. MoreCPD’s e-learning courses are CPD-certified, and completed courses produce certificates that can support your organisation’s training records.

Yes. Every team plan lets you rebrand the platform with your own logo and brand colours, so your team logs into something that looks like your organisation's own training portal rather than a generic third-party site.
What's the difference between the Solo plan and the team plans?
Solo is a single-person account for individual professional development — it includes course access and certificate tracking, but no team-management tools, since there's no team to manage. Starter and above are built for organisations: they add a manager dashboard, audit trail, exportable compliance reports, platform rebranding, and a dedicated account manager, with pricing scaling by staff count rather than by feature.
Is our staff and certificate data kept secure and GDPR-compliant?
Yes. Staff records, course progress, and certificates are stored securely and handled in line with UK GDPR requirements. Only your organisation's designated managers or account admin can access your team's data.
Can we manage staff across multiple sites or departments from one account?
Yes. Your business account and manager dashboard cover your whole organisation, so you can manage staff, courses, and certificates across multiple sites, departments, or teams from a single login — no need for separate accounts per location.
